DELAINE
Hey there,
I’m Delaine! Its a French name which means "of wool", DE =of, LAINE = wool :)
I live in Abu Dhabi ... the capital of the United Arab Emirates ... home to one of the world's largest mosques & F1 Grand Prix.
By profession, I am an engineer. By heart, I am a ... let me put it this way " A style-savvy, hot-cocoa lovin', globe-trotter!" I've lived in Abu Dhabi for over 30 years and seen it grow from a mere sandpit to the high-tech city it is now. To me, UAE is home! ... atleast for now. I live with my husband Jackson (also know as Mr. D ... my very own personal photographer & Instagram husband!) and my kitty Whisky.

Why hello there,
I'm Jackson! I am also known as Mr. D ... or Instagram husband!
I've lived in Dubai pretty much my whole life. By profession, I am an engineer as well. Unlike Delaine though, I have a full-time job. However, I've learnt to use my annual leave pretty damn well! At the end of each year, we sit together and decide where we're gonna visit in the following year. We make it a point to visit a new place every 2-3 months.
Delaine is the voice behind the blog, while I am the photographer. I'm quite used to hearing stuff like "your photography skills suck" or "you've made me look like a bloated pigeon!". Oh, how I love taking 100 pictures of her for Instagram with the exact same pose, in the exact same spot and she just picks one (if I'm lucky)!... (NOT). If not, I'll have to repeat the entire process!
ABOUT THE BLOG
"Of Travels & Tales" was born on March 2015. It documents all the things that we're both fond of. We met in Abu Dhabi in 2007, when we worked together at the same office. However, it not until 2010 (the year we got married) that we decided to pursue our second love - travel. We have a serious case of itchy feet and travel whenever and wherever we can. So far, we have visited over 49 countries in 6 continents across the globe ... many of them even before we started this blog. Some of these include - Bahamas, Brunei, Montenegro, Japan, Monaco, Australia, Tanzania, Maldives, Mexico ... You could say that we've been taking the quote "Travel while you're young and able. Don't worry about the money, just make it work." pretty damn seriously! We love travel and all things associated with it such as - mingling with locals, getting lost with a city map in hand, sore feet at the end of a walking tour, running to catch that last bus, waking up at 4.00am to catch a train, eating random street food (creepy crawlies excluded!), climbing hilltops to reach our hotel, dragging our suitcases through one foot of snow .... just about EVERYTHING! From boutique to luxury hotels, street food to fine dining, large group tours to a private car ... we've been through it all.
When we're not halfway across the globe, we are busy exploring UAE. We are not short of things to do here.

Local brews, sushi, action movies, rock music, fast cars, collecting watches, buying new shoes, new born babies' smiles, preparing new dishes
